Re: Czech republic 2009 World Meeting.
On leaving Prague we went into McD's to get breakfast. We left the car parked at they side of the road behind some other cars. There were no road markings. Honest!
Anyhow after croissants and coffee (cos apparently continental McD's are well up-market) we're walking back to the car and see a short guy with a notebook and pencil and a tall guy with a gun.
Turns out the parking space was pay and display AND we'd parked in a disabled bay..... then they wanted 2000Kc cash....had to find cash machine......left Caitlin in car surrounded by armed man..... And we got 4 nice 'souvenirs' from the policeman to take home with us
And they shook hands with all of us before departing!
Ok the french police.....
We got to the Eurotunnel on time, went duty free shopping, went Malibu tasting, lost track of time.... ran back to car, couldnt get into car, keys missing. Ran back to shops, no keys....raced round like an idiot... no keys....checked loos, no keys.... are you gertting the picture?
5 mins before departure time, keys turn up at malibu tasting table
Ran to car. Got in car. Started car. Hit the floor. Hooned out of car park to surpsise of passers by, french men waved wildly at us to get in lane. got in lane.
Arrived at passport control. Passports checked, given the all clear to go to the platform.
Now, bear in mind that:
a) we were
very late
b) the car was
VERY loaded (3 people, boot box, boot rack, chairs on boot rack, roof rack, roof box in roof rack, tent strapped on roof box...etc...)
and thus, in my eagerness to get on the train, I lifted the clutch a
little too quickly.
This resulted in smoke, gravel, screaming tyres, screaming frenchmen....
They came after us (yes I pulled away) and pulled us over. Took all our passports away

had some very stern words
Came back
twenty minutes later

with passports and warned us to 'remember where you are...'

i wasnt really sure what he meant.

I'll dig out the parking fine and post pics
