unknown as yet coops has sent a few of us an e mail that signed up as helpers at the AGM i'm not sure if coops is on the forum tho -

Hello all,

I know it has been a while since the AGM, but you did say you would be able to help with the organisation of the 2010 National. With apologies for seeming to not do to much in these last few months, but I have been in dialogue with Sparsholt College (please check out their website - http://www.sparsholt.ac.uk), and am about to have another meeting to discuss raising a contract with them.

In the meantime, Maurice has prompted me to put something in the magazine - galvanising me into action!

Sparsholt is an agricultural college of some distinction. It is set on a 400 acre farm and has lots of animals (& fish) to see. There are plenty of farm/country related activities that may be booked if required...

A couple of themes spring to mind - "Down on the farm" or "A dirty weekend" perhaps....?

So, I guess we are going to need a few things sorted out pretty sharpish:
1. Logo
2. Website
3. Publicity

All help gratefully received... Any volunteers? ;-) Any other suggestions so far? :-)

Also, of course, if you have decided that you can't help out after all, now is the time to let me know -- and of course I can take you off the distribution list.

Have a great Christmas & New Year,

Coops & Carol.

Now that's a good idea. Democracy in action not censorship :o

I'm not a member anymore, so i wouldn't be too welcome.

It's still 'International'.

Russ, you're just tooooooo easy!!

Being serious for a second though - as the National is organised through 2CVGB, why don't International 2CV friends organise an International either seperately or in conjunction with each other?

Not a hope in hell. The up-front costs of organising it would be absolutely prohibitive.

The first is more likely.

Funny thing is Bertie, we were all set to undertake something along these lines next year, we'd spoken at length with various folk from Snetterton and the 2cv racing club about holding a meeting at the 24hr race in 2010, the venue were keen, the club were keen and at the time nobody in 2cvgb had come forward to hold an international. The first problem we had was that somebody DID come forward to organise the international, the second being the date the racing club were given for the 24hr. August bank holiday weekend. Whilst we could still go ahead and do it, the venue were after something in the region of 200-300 cars ideally, and because of the date clash, we'd have been relying almost solely on cars coming from abroad to make that number. As it'd be the first time we'd held the event, the risk was too great that nobody would show up. You only get slightly more cars than that at Spa-Francorchamps remember, and that's been established for donkeys years.

2CVGB are among the relatively long list of people who don't like I2F, and whilst that doesn't bother me in the slightest I know the chances of them letting us organise an event with them is nil, and along with that we are at cross purposes with them anyway. they charge people in the UK for membership, whereby we are free for anybody anywhere with a 2cv.

I'm still keen to have an I2F event, maybe at the 24hr 2011 year if there is no date clash. perhaps a pre/post world meeting party?
