Nationals as they are now called were previously called Internationals. I believe there was a vote a few years ago at the AGM to drop the 'Inter' & go with 'National' to bring it inline with the French national & due to the fact world meetings are known as International meetings of 2cv friends...

It will always be 'International' in my book though.

There is a UK national meeting which should always be refered to as the 'INTERnational' which is what it's been called since day one until it was decided a couple of years back to wrongly refer to it as a National.

The world meeting, whilst officially known as 'The international meeting of 2cv friends' is always refered to as 'A world meeting'

Only in the UK is the national meeting refered to as an International, for example the French, dutch and germans all have national meetings too, and none of them are called 'internationals'. logically, on paper, yes, the UK yearly meeting is a 'national' but if we did everything logically and predictably, it'd be very boring. There was no confusion until 2cvgb decided to muck about changing names for the fun of it.

Clear as mud, eh?

I'll just add, I've never heard anybody, espscially from the Uk, use the phrase 'I'm planning on going to the International meeting of 2cv friends next year'. It's always 'I'm planning on doing the world meeting.'

It will always be a world meet for me.

i'm pretty sure on years before & after the stickers read 'International meeting of 2cv friends'...

I do think it's funny when people make a point of typing INTERnational though as if making a point

Either way, I'll be there - if this years can be replicated it'll be execellent, regardless of what it's called

when you say youve 'got' them, as in you went to the meeting and got them, or picked them up retrospectively? And I'm guessing you didnt drive to the '79 and '81 meetings...?
