Post Ami Super Service van
Ok where to start. we aquired this vehicle some 20 odd years ago, it was sat on a guys drive in bristol. the owner approched us at the bristol classic car show where we had a stand. Telling us that he had an ami van sat on his drive that he no longer wanted and did we know anybody that wanted it. this was like a red rag to a bull for john and a deal was struck and the van was soon resting on our drive way. complete but rusty as only an ami can. it wasnt untill we had a look under the bonnet that we discovered this was not just a van but a super van.we already had a project vehicle on the go an aks400 (hugo) so we deciced to let this one go to somebody else. several years and owners later the van turned up in peppermint green lowered suspension etc etc.

The year is now 1997ish im sure Neil will correct me. anyway to cut a long story short the ami van came back to live with me. there are pics of this on my face book page type in simon sobey and i add you as friends then you can see pics of what is believed to be the only rhd ami super van that is left in exictance. the van lives in warminster next to a super saloon 1973. it needs engine and gearbox and being realistic a body shell cause the roof gutter is missing the floors are shot bulkhead is gone box sections etc all are rusty. but it will go again sometime promise

the last pic is more or less how it looks now except the doors bonnet and inner front wings are off. russ had the inner wings off me. the front doors are for sale. no rust or dents ready to go pm me if anybody wants them. ive got most of the parts to put it back together but it needs MAJOR welding work. plus a new shell. 1 day it will go again. i think it will be an inheritance car. you know you pay for the work with an inheritance. wait and see in a few years

Is it not worth keeping the doors then? Or do you have some NOS ones stashed away?

Will you have to find a service van shell or can you convert a standard one with parts from the existing shell?

will have to find an estate body shell lhd and confert it to rhd using the existing one. then cut out the van sections and weld them in to the new shell. that is all citroen did when they first built it. if you look inside the back of the van you can see the rear door holes filled in by metal but also the strips of metal used to hold the door rubbers in. shit loads of work not a job for the faint hearted but it needs to be saved. there is also the super chassis and running gear available for sale. front arms turned longer tie rods and ami springs rear anti roll bar etc etc. i got a replacment ready to go.
