Well here we go.....The Good, The Bad and The Downright Ugly sides of the Beige Beast!

The Good......I really think it has only done 10K miles - the engine is very sweet although the carb needs a good clean out - give aways are nice clean heater tubes and untouched dump tubes - the tyres are original 125/380 X's and the spare has never been used! The floor pan is in fine fettle and the chassis looks perfect to my untrained eye. Even the road wheels, whilst look rusty are not in bad condition as the inside rims are perfect with no weld bulges. Also see last pic of dated KitKat wrapper...

The Bad.....The brakes are seized, the seats and hood are knackered and there is an amount of surface rust.

The Downright Ugly....The Hatchback hinge panel is absolutely knackered, as is the hatchback and the inner rear wheel arch tops are screwed as well.

Interesting car, SSD, has it really only done 10k miles? What year is it? Did you buy it recently and do you know its life story?

I bought it last week after seeing it in a yard in Manchester about 6 weeks ago looking sorry for itself. The current owner, a garage, couldn't shed any light on its history as he bought it some time ago and cannot remember who he got it from - I haven't got V5 yet so can't do any back tracking but according to DVLC site it was last taxed in 1979 so there is some real history to be had somewhere. As I say, there are a lot of pointers to its true mileage - pedal rubbers are like new, heater tubes are clean, oil was like new although I did change it before starting it up, original tyres, original exhaust, athough shagged with age, drive shafts look perfect and gaiters are fine, the wings don't look to be have ever been removed and, as its a drum braker, would have had to come off if it, if it had any miles on, to replace pads and finally wiper blades are the old fashioned narrow blade originals.....phew I think I've remembered everything.
