Post The Birth of a Plums and Custard
This is blooming exciting!

The 2nd job interview (which will dictate the urgency of my need for a citroen) went well - but still no formal offer. I find out next week. It all looks positive on this front, so...

The Plums 'n Custard is now sat on my mate's drive, with the report that "she seems pretty solid, bonnet hinge gone, couple of welds needed in the floor pan - some bits good, some not so good."

The fella ain't to tech-savvy, so no pics yet. I'll be popping over to his one evening next week, so I'll get some piccies done then. I'll get 'em posted up here and let you know progress towards getting a ticket on the thing.

I've almost arrived...!!! Anyone wanna buy an old bug?

:-)

:D :D I saw it for the first time last night! :D :D

So it's a bit of a rusty number, though it has clearly been sat on a slight slope for the last couple of years as it's like two vehicles - the front half has rusted the floor pans to paper, whereas the rear half is as solid as a rock. It's so extreme like this - all the belt clips and the like are beautiful, but there's holes all over the driver's side!

It appears to be an 88/89 ('F684CKN' or something) that was once a Silly CVs motor. Also it appears the last time it had an MOT, it was registered in Canterbury! So it's gone full-circle!

Sorry no pics yet, as it was in a dark and dingy garage in the middle of the night. I'll get some pics when we dig it out to look at whether we need to replace just the floor pan or the entire chassis...

Haven't started her yet, but she's looking very clean and all present and correct. My excitement around working on one of these things is that unlike the VWs and other cars, it all seems to make sense!

Fortunately, doing it with my good buddy - he's got a garage and loft full of enough spares to rebuild a good few of these. Plus two donor cars.

What is it with you people?

:D

Ah he's probably young, it's only when you get to your late 40's that you realise that you probably won't need those nineteen gearboxes, 14 motors, 26 spare doors etc that you've had tucked away since 1977

Well he's a fifty-year-old that runs around like a seventeen-year-old. Considering I'm 26 - we meet in the middle!!

I guess I'll have to build my collection of seemingly useful crap before I realise it is all just crap.
