Post My first running A-series, Andrea the Dyane
This is Andrea, a 1968 Dyan 6.

The story short:

I have since childhood, been hooked on the A-series, but my dream came true last spring, when i bought tow Dyane´s i Sweden. The one, was a spare-parts car, but turned out to be rare, a D6. This will be restored to brand new conditions, but that is a completely different story.

Andrea wasn't meat to be restored by me, but since the D6 project is on a stand still because lack of money and time, and because I was determined to drive Dyane this summer, things changed.

The key word fore this project is, solid and safe but honest and with patina= LOW BUDGET!!!

This is my first car restoration and I learned to weld during this project.
I choose the Dyane because it is more rare than the 2cv i Denmark and the A-series because I always wanted one and because of the simple jet brilliant technic.
But I will let the pictures speak for themselves...

70´spare parts....

* Due to the stupid Danish tax system, I have to pay approximately 700 £ in import tax on a 40 years old car!!!

Rust body....

The frame supposed to be sound, but then the body was lifted off, the rust spots began to appear...

my first welding, but I soon improved...

And one day after one month of intensive labour, it was channing day...

I choose to swap frame, because the originally frame and engine was in a very very bad condition, plus the the maintenance of the later models, is easier.

And here she is:

Andrea, a 1979 ish Dyane....

Together with the rest of the flock waiting for her MOT.....

I might lower her, but i haven´t decided jet.....

Looks like you've put a lot of work into your Dyane, Shans. Do cars in Sweden suffer more with rust than other places? In UK we have a lot of salt on the roads and cars seem to rot very quickly, especially if they have been badly repaired. I guess you guys have the same problem, but worse?

Did you go to Czech with the car?

Yes Russell.
Like in Denmark where I live, cars from south of Sweden rot a lot, because we have the same moist climate and a lot of salt on the roads during winter, just like in the UK.

But considered that the car is from 1968 and 41 years old, isen´t it too bad. Because of stupid tax rules i Denmark, which means that I had to pay import tax, combined with at bad engine, a rotten frame, it was easier to find at Danish car with Danish papers, a healthy engine and a frame, which didn´t demanded too much work and then switch the body from this car to the "Danish" frame.

I didn´t have the chance/ time to go to Czech and the car wasn´t finish. Some of my friends from the Danish Citroen CX club and from HY Team DK went, and they said it was the best World meeting they had been to.
But I will go to France in 2011 and hopefully in my red Dyane D6 also from 1968, if it is finish :D

If not, I´ll go in this on.....
