Just a quick update and big thanks to Dave 411 for the marvelous template he sent me for the headlining. The sheet of black material I had bought ages ago wasn't quite big enough, so I just made a break around where the interior light is mounted.

Before picture still a bit of the original headlining clinging above the driver's door:

And after, much better :D

Cheers Dave!

Hi Neil,

Blimey has it really been that long! Well, went to Salbris with the daughter and a few UK meetings in the meantime, but mainly just hooning around when time permits.

Got some of those vredestein's I was hankering after and some new rims. :)

Some scumbag broke the headhamp bar by sitting / twitsting / buggering with the headlight. :( so had to change it for a second hand one.

As Jules rightly says its now with Mr Sparrow for what started as a rust tidy-up round the sills and back panel which I've been meaning to have done for years.

But it's becoming a major back end rebuild. Most of the bit between rear inners and body it turns out was a fibreglass / filler alloy, which must have happened before I got the car in 1991. Turns out my cousin remembers his mum being distraught about the car needing lots of work back for rust back in the 80's sometime so some of it may date from then. It's like auto archeology going back through the layers.

Now the sun's been coming out really missing having it! I'll update as the rebuild continues :?

ps. Yes Dave, Neil does know everything. If you look back in this thread he instantly remembered my car from way back and quickly unearthed a random decades old photo of the car !

Hello All, well it's been a long while since I posted, but here is a little update on the car.

The resto work has taken much much longer than planned since the above post. First, little by little the small areas of rust were cut out of the rear end.

So there wasn't much left of the rear end by that stage...

Then a bit more,

then, er, a bit more,

and finally rebuilt with new panels for practically the whole of the rear.

New windscreen panel was added, and new parcel shelf...

Blasting followed, leaving a completed shell ready for priming and painting.

And finally coming back together ready for the road again. It should be ready quite soon, I'm so excited, it has been so long.

In fact it took so long I bought a Méhari and have been driving that around for the last year or so, which is great fun and a lovely car I bought on eBay.

But with the 2cv finally coming back together, its going to be time to move the méhari on again soon, so will post it up in the ads section.
