I bought it in 2007 after a mate sent me the link to the advert on some french classic car website, I picked it up looking much like this..

... a bit faded, battered and dirty, but solid apart from the one sill.

Set out with a french speaking mate and collected it overnight back in march last year, Drove it home with no real trouble, apart from the sleep depravation!

Once I got it home, I set about putting some nicer wings on it (the front ones were, as you can see, pretyy ronnied) and giving it a bit of a polish and spagging the sills together again.

Obviously, next thing to sort out was the disgraceful ride hieght, although the ride was perfectly comfortable like all 60's citroens, I could walk about under the car without having to bend down, it was that high...

So I dropped it about 4" which still wasn't low, but it was a start...

Then, for the next few months, I ignored the fact it was on french plates, and drove it about to a few 2cv meetings, and generally whored it around a bit...

Bought some period bits for it...

...and polished the arse off it...

before the 2cvgb clubs registers meeting in 2007, I had the engine out and tried to sort the clutch out, and generally tidy the thing up under the bonnet..

Image

2CVGBs 'Registers day' 2007, and it was voted 'Best Ami', which made me jolly smug, as some folk had actually restored cars and looked after them, whereas I just went to france, picked it up and thrashed it round..

It was all going so well...

Until I seized the engine about a mile out of the showground!

Which resulted in me swapping to a later engine, from some ropey old '80s D*lly. This took me about 6 months due to me being a lazy sod, and when I did come to work on it, I found it wasnt as simple as I had thought (that's not to say the process was difficult though)

While it was off the road with the motor out, the missus kindly bought me the far better looking 'Club' spec headlights for my xmas present..

Engine stripping underway, just a quick gander down the bores and new gaskets here and there, nowt major, Then built it up, Then cleaned and painted bits of the gearbox, and replaced front brakes...

Image

put it back together, with new headlights..

Image

...got the car MoT'd and on a UK plate.

Then I dropped it the rest of the way...

Haha, I can't sell it now as it's now the holiday transport!

I blew £120 just on spares for it today, not replacement parts, just simple spares!
