Y'know, looking at that pic's made me just realise something...

See that steel wire going from the front panel bolts back to the windscreen? It's there for a reason - Mehari screens get a bit flappy at the best of times, even with a vMax of 60mphish...

So - there's some sound logic, tie it on to something solid, and spread the load...

Unfortunately, there just wasn't anything solid on the damn car. Tying it to there was only ever going to cause the entire front - remember, no bolts for'ard of the driver's feet - to try to pull upwards and backwards once it got windy... <whimper> Ever had the bonnet open on a 2cv at speed? Fancy trying that with the front wings, headlamp bar and bulkhead still attached to the bonnet...?

Tim your comment on never rolled an a series, i rekon a wrong weighted ami super chassis and a light weight body makes it possible, I could have rolled the blue dyane 1300 if id tried a bit harder. and if it all got out of shape then i think it would be easy.

Oddly the mehari 'super' driver will just have to use a bit of sense, which will be hard, very hard when your pressing the loud pedal in it.

I'm almost sick with excitement. Can't wait for a go in the Mehari 'O' Death. Thinks a roll cage of some sort is very good idea - how about summat that tapers down to the rear end - like that half canvas you can get. Those pics of timmys show how good they can look with a cage. Liking those gaunlets and helmet though - perhaps a white silk scarf and a biggles moustache as well? Seem to remember a fella in a JZR got badly hurt or killed in a roll over. All JZR's have at least some roll over protection. My dads is a blast - might try and borrow it for the easter camp if he'll let me.

Ah. Russ has found evangelical zeal... <runs, screaming>

I will be examining the Mehari VERY carefully for any sign of a fish being sneaked on there, Higgs. Mark my words...

I used to drive my old aks400 Super like an absolute twat, I'd raised the suspension up so it sat at roughly the right height for said van and as I said, drove like an idiot.

I never once felt like it was gonna tip over despite the rather high centre of gravity. I even got outrageously shit yer pants scary understeer on a very hot and dry day on tarmac rather than rolling it..................................

That said, I'm still not saying it's impossible to roll one, but hope it's not gonna happen obviously :)
