You guys make me laugh, brilliant.

I agree with both of you.

If when first tried its deemed bloody silly and needs a cage, put one on then.

Do we need to TRY it to know that?

There's just one slight flaw in that logic.

The need for a cage will become clear when I die in a splintered pile of tupperware. At which point, it's not only a bit late, but there won't be much point...

sarah always moaned when i took her in the mehari... it needs a roll cage or at least the frame leaving on... the lap strap (that only caught by magnets) wont tighten up, it feels like i am going to fall out, please put the doors back on! etc... moan....

its about as safe as a motorbike... so what... have fun, you only live one....!!!

i've not rolled a 2cv yet so i cant comment but i dont hear about A-series rolling very often and yes i know it may be as a result of other people... I like risks, being mid life, i dont want to waste my time!

No, because I'm not planning to die in a pile of splintered tupperware...

Timmy's bang on the money comparing it to a bike. A very lardy and underpowered bike, with stabilisers.

Some of the highlights of the bodgery in it's construction...

Roughly 2/3 of the LH side of the red tub was missing completely, replaced by a large sheet of ally and a ton of GRP, newspaper and podge.
The front scuttle frame had been badly bodged to make it RHD, and was bolted to the chassis with precisely three M7 bolts.
The remains of the rear frame (it came off in three bits, without any cutting) was bolted to the chassis in a few more - six M7 bolts in all - but the furthest forward was about at the rear of the fuel tank.
The front panel is held on by a bar which goes round the top, fastens to the front frame, and has two legs going down to the chassis. Except that this one didn't have those legs. They'd been chopped off to fit round the engine.
So the entire body - front bumper to back bumper - was held to the chassis with a grand total of nine M7 bolts, with nothing forward of the driver's feet, and nothing between his knees and the very rear of the body.

The static, lap-only belts were attached to the inner by a single M7 bolt shared between both. I don't actually recall unbolting the outer ends, so gawd knows where they attached.

There's about 4' of spare brake pipe just by the LHR knife edges, coming out of the rear brake limiter valve - coiled up and rubbing on both tie-rod and body frame.

The battery tray was held in by a grand total of one M7 bolt going clear through the chassis, with a nut the other side - and three _tiny_ (c.3mm thread) Phillips screws into the tupperware tub.
The handbrake mechanism was mounted on the battery tray.
