1987 (was) Road legal racer but soon to be winter hack!

A bit more progress on this today although it was too warm to do much to be honest...

I took the engine out-much easier when it's a cold engine!

Image

I then swapped the ridiculously light flywheel for a standard one

Image

Then lobbed the engine back in.

I had planned to make and fit tubular bumpers but a rummage through the garage turned up a usable front bumper and I've got a similarly usable narrow rear bumper kicking around so......

Image

What do you all reckon? Do you think it looks as shit as I do?

Honest opinions please.....

It looks fine to me, but then the way a car looks is always way down the list of priorities for me. If you're building it to use, who gives a f**k how it looks? ;)

I haven't read the whole thread so sorry if somone has already mention this but just noticed the number plate on your racer/winter hack is it not the car featured in this ? http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/imag ... 39&s=books

These are the only photos I got of the remains of the original shell.

The bulkhead mostly got swept up/washed/blown away!

The steering column wasn't even attached to the bulkhead thanks to rust!

I've got a pair of Peugeot 406 seats that I'm hoping to persuade in today then it's heater, exhaust, maybe some sound proofing, seatbelts, a driveshaft gaiter then MOT..... 8-)

Is that book any good? Thought of buying it in the past.

Not briiliant, it's been done better! (HERE! :P ) A chap seeing me working on my car gave me a copy... not much more than a compilation of articles from Car Mechanics mag... I'd call it a makeover rather than a restoration! For example they don't take the rear wings of to repaint them

I think Spanners picture above sums up how good that book is!

Anybody fancy this?

A possible (probable) change in domestic circumstances means I may have to seriously rationalise my clutter and car collection......... :(
