I bought a Portugese built Special in 1988, after taking delivery, before I drove it anywhere, I used over 10 litres of Waxoyle on it ....most of which went into the chassis, the rest was painted onto the underneath, wheelarches and injected into any cavity I could find.
It needed the chassis welding for its MOT in 1995 ....so it was fitted with an early non-galvo'ed SLC chassis, which is still good.
It needed new rear seatbelt mounts in 2012, so I had complete new inner rear wings put in {these are still good}
And aside from those two jobs, my car is virtually rust free.

About a week after the 2CV passed its MOT on the 2nd September I put it back into storage in west Herefordshire, about 32 miles from where I live, because I only have space in the garage for one car. I've had my 1932 Morris Minor here at home during the last 3 months but today I pootled over to Leominster and returned with the 2CV which required only a minute of cranking to get it to fire and run. It performed brilliantly all the way home, keeping up with a 2016 Land Rover Discovery with ease. I've missed the ol' girl.

Aw I'd hate to have a car so far away. Great you have storage available though.

Had a run to Clun today. Had lunch in The White Horse Inn then back home. Had a good run out via Cleobury and Cleehill (very long and steep climb in 2nd).

The Deuche has been back in storage for the last two months so it can free up the home garage for the Minor. I've just popped over to the Herefordshire and after several minutes of cranking the engine finally fired up and I've gone and put about 40 miles on the clock. It's back in storage again now.

At least it got a bit of daylight. Summer will be here soon! Although the Minor must be really lovely in the summer too.

Both are great summer cars 8-) The Minor will be celebrating its 90th 'birthday' next Monday, 11th April. If the weather is favourable I'm considering taking it back to Cowley for the day. The area of the factory it was built in is now the Oxford Business Park (Alec Issigonis Way). I would like to return it to the Morris Garages showroom on St.Aldates, Oxford, where it was sold as a brand new car in 1932, but the traffic and anti-car council will mean I'll just have to forget it. It also doesn't help that the building now houses the Oxford Crown Court. Don't want to upset the judges :lol:

Aaaw really? I drive old cars in Oxford fairly often, I drive wedding cars although nothing even remotely as old as the Minor!

Overhere you can also get in the environment zones with an oldtimer.
We drove the sahara on a closed forrest road and even the walkers liked it. Ask Geo... :mrgreen:
