Re: My 2cv
Although nowadays produced by Burton, the initial design of the clamps was done by Citroën. In the days when there was no Burton to be seen (what beautiful days they were), i took exactly those clamps from the Visa i was breaking for the engine. Nelsthebass wrote: Ahh! The proverbial shite exhaust clamps.....the Burton ones are well worth the investment and will clamp much better than the original designs - I believe single pipes down each size don't give enough back pressure and reduce effective bhp - the design of the exhaust is quite complex and gives similar exhaust gas lengths so as to balance the pressures from cylinder to cylinder - if you look at racers exhaust design with no cross box it involves quite exotic pipework to give similar exhaust tracts....

Re: My 2cv
Just been taking a close look at the manifold to heat-exchanger joint. Can somebody tell me if the body of the heat-exchanger is closer to the joint on the RH side (as seen from sitting in the car) than it is on the LH side? The clamp seems to foul on the bottom leading edge seam of the exchanger on that side, yet there's lots of space around the clamp on the other exchanger. It's a right PITA!

Re: My 2cv
one cylinder is more forward than the other so there might be some difference in the heat-exchangers to compensate this position difference.

Not much wrong with the company EirikJ wrote: AZS wrote: In the days when there was no Burton to be seen (what beautiful days they were) Are you referring to the car, or the company? If the company, why?

Re: My 2cv
Thanks. I've managed to fudge it together, somewhat, but it's not perfect. The clamp just isn't wide enough to grab both flanges and grip them tightly. The proximity of the RH heat-exchanger is also causing me issues. I have been out for a run down to the ferry terminal at Belmont though, and even though there is a degree of leakage around the joint in question, it's not too bad at the moment. Think I'll invest in some Burton clamps from ECAS.

Re: My 2cv
I bought some cheaper ones that looked just like the Burton ones from 2cv City. Unfortunately the bolts they were supplied with were made out of cheese so don't be tempted to go down that route.

Re: My 2cv
Isn't there a song about that? Something along the lines of "When will they ever learn?". So, that's Simon Scarth's battery support bracket copied, the same for Daras Rich's mirror surround gaskets. Might be stepping on the wrong toes with the Burton boys, though... Lenny wrote: I bought some cheaper ones that looked just like the Burton ones from 2cv City. Re: My 2cv
Was a lovely evening, so after getting home from work I got the Deuche out of the garage and went out for a drive to the north shore of Loch of Cliff, north Unst. Even had the hood fully open.
