Yes James filler, I'm not moving two cars and what's left of the Dyane in the garage just to get the welder out for that

Half built a cupboard for the van out of an old wall unit, the thing had been smashed up, so I grabbed the best bits of wood and made this to size, getting there slowly!

[quote author=rebel2cv board=readersrides thread=97417 post=1557846 time=1333488588]Right, been having fun today. My steering rack has had an inch of play at the wheel for a while, so as the mot is due in a couple of months I thought best to get it sorted, so popped to my mates for an extra pair of hands.

This is when I turned up..

Bonnet and wings off-

Engine out-

Gearbox out-

Swing arms and rack out-

As I'd taken all the front suspension off I thought it would be a good idea to fit some swing arms from a later 2cv with telescopic shocks, rather than the tiny ones mounted on the hub of the wheel then I thought why not fit up rated springs I'd bought a year ago?

Old spring can gone-

New going in-

So.. That's replacement rack (untested), two mossy green front swing arms from a scrap chassis in my mates yard and one side of suspension changed.. I didn't realise I was going to loose so much ride height with these new coils...

And this is how it's sitting tonight, just a tad on the curse word!

All good fun,
but I guess it's too late to mention that the front axle/steering rack can be removed without taking out the engine and gearbox. :(

You might want to fit a catch tank from your engine breather too as oil drips can now be an MOT fail - good idea anyway as you have discs!

[quote author=rebel2cv board=readersrides thread=97417 post=1559219 time=1333657979]long story short.. its done. At first it litrally sat on its @rse.. trouble was thats with the suspension rods turned in as far as they would go.. so i cut a length off each, but still not enough so it'll have to be pulled apart again!

too low :(

looks awesome but undrivable

and how I drove it home, unfortunatly I cant carry passengers so its going to have to be raised more
