And the cable that does feed the contact switch? Amp meter connections? I had some strange errors in my regulator. After i cleaned all the eye connectors it was ok some were a bit oxydized. |

... An additional consideration : In order to monitor the current flowing ( or not ) in the different cables , I have installed LEDs on the 3 cables to the coil : - original cable 13 ( blue ) coming from Ignition switch - additional cable ( green ) connected to Ignition switch via cable 12 - additional cable( red ) connected from parking switch 26 ( current coming from battery via cable 8 and 9 ) I have noticed that the first two LEDs are flickering a low rpm ( up to approx 1500 rpm ) ... as if the current was not continuous . However , when the parking switch is switched on the 3rd Led is not flickering . The only difference between the first two cases and the third one is that the current goes through the ammeter . Although the ammeter is a very simple instrument , maybe there is something wrong with it MG |

Did you try to use the two other poles of the ignition switch? They may still be in good condition. |

Hello Fer yes , i opened the ignition switch. it was in very good condition.I cleaned it . I connected cable 11 to Port 1 "in " ....................cable 13 to Port 1 " out " ....................cables 12 and 14 to Port 2 "out" .....................Port 1 "in " to Port 2"in" I believe the ignition switch is OK Although the current is flickering at low rev, it seems to run ok with cable 13 ( blue ) disabled and replaced by additional cable 12 ( green ). If it runs ok , i will leave it like that. Bonne journee MG

About the flickering , a reason could be that cable 11 ( purple ) going from ammeter to ignition key is connected on the ammeter to cable 10 (orange) feeding current from the regulator. On my car, the regulator was faulty and i replaced it with an electronic regulator from Cipere which works well. However it is possible that , for some reason, this electronic device is transforming the continuous direct current from the dynamo into a non-continuous current.!? In any case this does not explain why from time to time cable 13 feeding the coil is temporarily failing MG

Or as our british technician at the newpaper always said, electronics are mystery... This after we cut half of the wires in the transmission equipment and it still stayed working . ) |

Post subject: | rubber fuel pipe on top of tank |
Yesterday , I filled completely the tank . This morning there was a smell of petrol : the rubber pipe on the top of the tank is being dissolved by the ethylene of the new fuel ; it looks like chewing gum ! I would be tempted to bend a bit the steel fuel pipe to attach a new rubber pipe in order to avoid taking off the tank ... but it is probably not a good idea. I see that the tank is attached with 4 bolts ; also the feeding pipe needs to be dismantled . Is there anything that I should know ? Many thanks MG |

Yes it will be very heavy (my brother had a tank smacked in his face as he was lying under the car to remove it.. and it was only half full). The two front nuts just have to be loosend not taken of. Can't you reach in though the little hatch? If the rubber grommit is taken of you can take the filler pipe out trough the hole in the wing if the car is lited high enough. |
