 Re: Yellow Dyane
Well it's six months since I worked on the car, Daisy returned from Portugal in August and we've been walking the Wales Coast Path every weekend since. Done about 200 miles now and only 685 more to go. Anyway, now we're locked down again and it's been snowing so I got back into the tent, restored electric power, tidied up, it was like the Marie Celeste (without the food) and started on the bodywork again. The bottom edge of the original windscreen panel had rusted away, all of it , so I had no accurate way of knowing what the gap between the flanges should be. The top edge is about 10mm. P1030165 by Robndaisy, on Flickr and the flange on the repair panel varies along it's length but it's more than 10. P1030166 by Robndaisy, on Flickr Now I could just trim the bottom flange/edge down to 10 mm. and trust to luck that's it right, but if it's too small, fitting the windscreen (whenever that'll be) could be very difficult and I don't like difficult. so I asked Ken and the legend that he is, he got straight back with photos he'd taken with a steel rule from an original panel on a bodyshell. The magic number is 393 mm. edge to edge. P1030167 by Robndaisy, on Flickr P1030164 by Robndaisy, on Flickr P1030163 by Robndaisy, on Flickr So quite a bit to come off the lower flange then. That's fine now I know and some repro panels need more work than others as we know. Thanks Ken All the best for 2021, anyone not having a jab in the arm when it's offered .
