Flipped the flamer over for the last time.

The usual sight, the brake shoes had seized as had the cylinders, bearings are ok, just need cleaning and new grease.

ImageP1030486 by Robndaisy, on Flickr

All ok here except for the steering rack guide bush, i'll fit a new one and grease nipples.

The weather continues to be kind.

Even these went in without a fight ;) .

Yes i know several of this workspaces too ;-)).
I did some routing today on a clock part. I was strange to do this driven by hand wheels. At my work i have an CNC router.
And then i cleaned 2 vintage Tefifons. One is working the other has a problem with the drive and the pick-up element seems to be dead.

The bearings and the brakes all went back together ok, I even remembered to fit the seal before finally fitting the drum :) .
The spiral pipes went in ok too so I was feeling pretty good and the weather was sunny, then...

I noticed this. What you can see here is the cover plate over a felt seal and it's given up the ghost, what I saw was terminal corrosion of the spring tube end cap. For reasons unknown I decided to remove the cap. What a waste of time that was.

ImageP1030512 by Robndaisy, on Flickr

Absolutely butchered it  .

Of course the springs, rods and the tube are all perfect, as good as new :x .

I don't know why I didn't realise at the beginning that it was just a rusty cover plate and not important, sometimes my ignorance amazes me.

Great work, strong spirit!

I have restored two 2CV's. So why is it, EVERY time I read threads like this with lots of photos by people restoring 2CV's, I really wanna do another one?
(Luckily I do have another project, my -58. So when the time is right....)
