These ones, I suppose there's a spring inside, so they are tensioned by a spring?

I do rather like that one Eirikj. :)

However, I would still like to find a mechanism to operate from inside the car.

I'm considering dzus 1/4 turn, but am not sure they are strong enough. I have a pair and will see if they may fit. I need to buy the correct rear spring bits first.

These aren't the ones I have, but I do have ring ones.

I didn't mean you should use the ones I liked to, I just was curious how they work, as it's not mentioned in any of the ads. And if they are spring loaded, I might have use for them.

The ones you linked to are common on motorcycles. Fairings and stuff like that. They are great for that use, but to secure a fender, or a whole front end... No. Too weak.

The military land rover catch does have a spring as you suggest. It's pivoted at one end and you just pull and hook it on to the other bit. Not easy to see in the image.

I like the look and simplicity. :)

As the bulkhead is flat and vertical ??,
How about a boot/bonnet catch

(without wires)

Hi Pete

Its not vertical. So there is a shearing action as the bonnet (wing) closes.

Talking with you guys has made me realise that I will have to close it and then insert the fastener in. That, or enlongate the holes, but that adds the issue of water getting in. Though a closed cell sponge pad may sort that!

Its good to talk. :D

Maybe a boot/bonnet catch is a good idea. You can just mount the lock in an angle so there is no shearing action, yes? And a release handle inside the car, connected with a wire. And some sort of back up solution would probably be smart ;)

Not very durable, but got them on.
