Blooming 'eck, nothing like a 'last minute dash', is there?
The only A series contact I've got in that neck of the woods is Doug Cunningham, who's based near Colchester.
You can find his contact details on this section of the ECAS site, probably best not to hang around, given the timing of this arrival...

Thanks Ken, I didn't know that map list existed. I could do with a copy to keep in the car as I never know when I'll need to find a specialist ;)

No word yest from the shipping company, so I guess it will be Friday now.. In any case I'd forgotten I'm busy rattling a collection bucket for e.a.c.h. charity on Thursday.

I'll give Doug a ring today

Again Thanks, Pete

.

I believe in giving credit where it's due, and speaking out when companies fuk with you, so..

Recommendation :
RoRo Shipping :

Robin Beecham was excellent and went beyond the call of duty to help me out when the transport company to Zeebrugge never gave us advanced notice nor had the documentation in place. And then again when I needed to pay for the shipping but the filter on my internet router chose to give up the ghost..

Cost £165 from Zeebruge to Purfleet, Essex. But I didn't need to be there either end. The Slovene transport company dropped the car off at Zeebrugge and the vehicle recovery driver picked it up from Purfleet (not Tilbury Docks). No issues at all. 8-)

Recommendation :
Vehicle recovery / vehicle moving in & around East Anglia

Jarek is running his own one man business. He tries hard to get things right. Being Polish his English is not brilliant but he communicates well via text messages. I like that he confirmed the pick up address and the delivery address with the estimate & price the night before, and then again he sent me a MMS photo of the car loaded on to his flat bed truck before leaving Purfleet. His timing was half an hour early to collect the car and delivered it to where I live on a remote farm without getting lost ! ..That's not very usual around here. A very nice chap to deal with. 8-)

At short notice - his cost was £95 (no VAT) for the round trip of 136 miles (according to Google maps). This was cheaper than the usual £1 per mile that other companies seemed base their prices on, whereas one company wanted £250 for the same collection.

Put a request on Shiply a few days ago to transport my Minor from Taunton to Aberdeen, a distance of a few miles under 550 miles, and the best quote I've had back so far is £388!

That seems to me to be a really good price. At £1 per mile (for the round trip) it would cost £1100 ! so I think at 1/3rd of that you are doing well. But be aware that someone on another forum I subscribe to (the French Car Forum perhaps) warned that they had booked through Shiply, paid their money and never heard anything more.! Someone had taken advantage of the website and used it to scam. I'm sure most of the operators on there are good but do what you can to safeguard you money and your car.

Pete.

Thanks for the warning. There are three sections on the page that give additional information about the company/individual giving the quote. That is feedback, verified and insurance. The guy I'm considering to employ has a 100% record over 127 jobs, has been verified by Shiply, and has the required insurance in place. Not sure what else I can do to safeguard myself, other than to do the job myself. His quote is £389.
