It's largely exagarated. It is written in all 2cv books. I wonder if one author once had a 2cv in test with not right mounted driveshafts? And every one esle copied this story..Forks should be on the same plane otherwise they will jerk.

Yes exact right... ;-)
Only bit of jerking at full turn when the car has to work heavy. Like a steep uphill sharp turn. For the rest not much different like another car..

Had made something to undo the bushnut, found it under the bench at the back with the spiders and the mice.

Cleaned up the yoke for the UJ cup(because it was damaged) and partially fitted it before pressing in the shaft. Remembered to fit the brake backplate first.

Should have used new bearings though  After trial tightening there's sideways play in the bearing so it's got to come out...somehow :) .

You better replaced the bearings before putting it all together.
I don't understand why you did not replace them anyway, just in case ...

Looking at the last picture(s) anyone from the Landrover forum would think you are doing a prop shaft..

Lovely "touchable" technics on a old 2cv..

Got two cups installed OK on the other shaft and then ran into trouble.

The cups kept misaligning and pushing the needles out of line. It took all day to get the flamer in, still the beer was nice afterwards!
Today was much easier.
