Re: Van repairs Nothing strange here...  But you can put modern drive shafts in but you have the change the discs to mount the wheels on. The old have a few large splines the new ones a lot of little ones. Only question is the lenght of the wheel side driveshafts. I think there was a difference between old and new????

Re: Van repairs Do you mean that the inner shaft is left on and a new constant velocity outer shaft is fitted to a new hub flange?  You see how little I know!

Re: Van repairs Yes that was my idea. But as i said there might be a lenght difference in the old and new outershaft. I will have a look in my stock to check.
p.s. it seems the dutch old 2cv club has a lot of old glaenzer-spicer homokinetic driveshafts in stock? They will fit

Re: Van repairs Rob and AZL, the outer section of those earlier driveshafts was longer and if replaced by a later (constant velocity type), that can result in the outer separating from the inner. I've heard reports that one way of addressing this problem was to weld on an extension to the inner, cut from a scrap inner driveshaft, but never tried that myself... . Re: Van repairs wouldn't it be easier to lengthen the wheel side with a heavy gauge tube welded over the narrow part??

Re: Van repairs I did some measurements. The new one is about 35mm shorter than the old one. The splined portion of the new one is about 2cm longer. Would it be an option to alter the bumpstops, put them a bit higher.
