Old Choke cable inner wire corroded and won't reach the carb. lever. Bought some piano wire to fix it.

Removed the swaged wire and drilled deeper.

The outer is too short as well, I've pulled it into the carb. but that's no good.
I could warm up the outer and stretch it a bit
Or cut the outer in a suitable place and push each end into some fuel pipe to take the tension off it
Or(preferred option) keep drinking medicinal Gin and watch more football .
What does the Forum think

got a few jobs done today, wrapped the loom, bled the brakes(with a helper this time) and began looking at the tracking. Had put the track rods to the lever arms with the same cups, springs and shims in the order they were before. now the van is on the floor, one of the front wheels is way off straight ahead.
If I disconnect the rods, turn the steering wheel to full lock, mark it's position, turn it all the other way and back half the amount of turns(then secure it) that should be set right for further adjustment and correction...shouldn't it
Had previously fitted the wheels to the hubs and spun them to see if they are true and they are ok.

Read the book now, no mark engraved on the plate on the front of the steering crossmember so have aligned fronts with string line. Time to fiddle with the shims.

If the exhaust is mounted ok you won't have fumes in the cab. It can happen if you are standing stil but on driving it's ok. The exhaust end should protrude a bit under the chassis and the "louvres" in the chassis should be open. They are sometimes bend in by jacking the car with a block of wood under the chassis.
