How green is your copper? Nice vintage clamp though.

Cleaning the carb isn't difficult. Take the top of and take all the jets out. Attention nothing drops in to the manifold. Take compressed air and blow in all the holes you see. Take for you eyes as petrol might spray out of somewhere. Blow to the jets. And then put it back together. It will be enough for most of the time, sometimes a bath in the Ulrasonic cleaner will be an good idea.

Cheers, the carb isn't tightened down yet so I'll take the flamer off the manifold.

Rigged up a bracket to support the accelerator rod and the return spring...don't want the flamer revving itself to rack and ruin when it bursts into life. Just hoping the crank is ok, I read recently that Ken has a technique for assessing them, give it a controlled belt/thump, if it 'clacks', it's U/S. Wish I'd read that sooner :) .

Got to decide how to fasten the coil on, no handy headlamp bar on this mobile bench.
Filled battery with acid pack and it's charging gently, just realised that I haven't whizzed the starter motor to see if it works, will try that tomorrow 'cos too flamin' cold in the workshop.

:D Good idea but that's not sophisicated enough for me
Put the starter to the freshly charged battery and it ran fine, nice smell of Ozone though!
Is this right?, take a wire to the coil from the starter connection(with a switch in line), another from the points box to the coil and an earth(ground) from the battery to the gearbox lid? that's all it needs isn't it?Apart from the positive to the starter :) .

If I were to take the top of the carb. and the gasket tears, what then?
I don't suppose replacements are available?
