I cleaned mine in a bucket of hot water with some washingup fluid. Than i put it next to the stove for a few days to dry up. The wires i isolated with 3M scotch tape it is still holding up 30 years later.

I didn't have a piston ring compressor that fitted 425 cc.pistons so used a plastic rainwater downpipe clip.

a bit of grinding paste on a washer cleaned up the banjo sealing faces.

Had to make up an adapter to get from 3/8" to 1/2" because I've only got a small torque wrench.

Cleaned up the cylinder head oil feed unions and annealed the copper washers before gently fitting.

The clip on the head stud is in the wrong place, needed to be further away from the crankcase. Offered up the front cowling and fitted the fan. The cowl has been in a fight and will need a lot of careful beating to put right: not now though, I'm off to the Algarve for Christmas!

It really needs someone to hold the cowl, someone to apply the heat from the torch and another to beat the sh*t out of it .

(Returning from pleasant weather 1500 miles South , to the foul, grey, sodden, murky, windblown, blasted and cold, a typical Welsh Winter has not improved my mood!.)
