She's good, less than 5 minutes, no cursing either. she did use a blunt instrument to settle the coils I noted 8-) .

The short tube is the centre from a cable reel, not ideal and I could knock something up from flat sheet but I'm getting van repair fatigue  .
Will probably solder it on. Must remember to cut a hole in the green tube before though  .

We took it out for a run and believe it or not, there was warm air wafting around. I blame the Beans.

Well done, it works. Well it keeps the windscreen rather demisted...

What is it guys? and what should the BHP be?
£47.00 and at the moment it looks like I've got a set of metal cylinder shrouds and some nuts and bolts
It can't be that bad though...can it?

I've been trying to think of something encouraging to say, but all I can come up with is, it should be about 32 bhp. ;)

Um! How about, it surprising how some things clean up!

Does it turn? Was it stored with the pistons fully extended?

It has not been correctly stored and is probably scrap...but as an optimist...just seeing if I can reclaim something that might end up in the van. Other options are available :) .
Won't turn it until the heads are off. Probably won't turn anyway  .

AM2 implies its 9:1 cr. If I had to guess, I would say Dyane. There are clever people on here that can tell by the engine number. ;)

I-m on my mobile, and don't have my glasses on, but is that a drum brake gearbox attached. You may provide better info, if you take your images from further away. As long as the resolution is there, then we can always zoom in to relevant areas. :)

On the gearbox topic, there is a lot of gap between 3rd and fourth that may not suit the van (if it is Dyane). Don't know if your existing gearbox will connect to it. 2cv may be better. You may also need a 2cv flywheel.

However, you need to sort the engine first. :D

It's a dyane engine seen the extra cooling tube and it is a very rare model water cooled, inside the cylinders....

Post Re: Van repairs
Rob,
I bought an engine for my van ,a few years ago, in the same condition .
I have taken the whole engine apart, checked everything and renewed what was needed.
There was slight play on the crankshaft, but that was negligible, I thought.
The engine has not sustained 5000 km as it broke down. The crackshaft was broken.
Later I bought an engine from Fer, which was stored dry and in much better condition. I checked this and put it in my AZU and it still runs fine.
The engine of our AZ was in similar condition as the one you have now, but was stored dry.
I think you better take it apart, and see how the inner condition is.
But be sure that the crankshaft does not have ANY PLAY !!
If you pull the piston rod and feel a slight play BIN IT !
