Nice work, I've always had a phobia of wood but I'm increasingly seeing woodwork I'd like to have a go at, a steering wheel is one of those little projects.

A man from the dutch old citroen club made a steering wheel from two layers of thick plywood cut round with a jigsaw. Glued on and under the spokes. On his first testdrive the wheel collapsed.... ;-)
Hid did use the plywood in the wrong direction. It was fun to make this. It cost me about a week and 18 euros in glue and wood. If you can find an original steering wheel it might cost 250 euros minimum.

Thank you, you learn a lot of different things in restoring an old car. The engine was next. We took the head of and it seemed to be rather ok. There were new pistons in. But when we did open the rest of the engine it was a dirty rubbish. Strange to do such a half work.. :?
The oil scoop of 1 piston was missing. The oil line to the camshaft and magneto drive was blocked. So the car had been running without appropriate lubrification at the front side of the engine. All has been coped with and fortunately there was no apparant damage found so far. At the first test the oilpump didn't work. In an old owners manual we found the tip to fill the oil tube with a seringe. So we did and after a test start the oil squirted all over the garage floor before i could get the plug in again. So the pump must be working now i guess....

Rear axle was taken apart too. After cleaning and reajusting the dif we were putting it together again as one of the ballbearings in the driveshaft fell to pieces. But by pure luck there was an old one laying in stock at the local industry museum were we were doing the repairs. Also the rare original 5hp jack turned up there.

Not much i did weld a broken rear wing. It seemed to have weak spot or bad repair in one edge. When we tried to force it a bit in position it broke.
Rest of the time is taken up by the job and the other cars... but i hope we will soon restart the rebuilding.
