Took the 57 out for winter duty. Bit of air in the tyres, cleaned the spark plugs. That's all. It started just fine after 7 months of sleep. I like those old beasts.

Smelled a bit of exhaust in the car i suspected the manifold nuts but after a check in the sun i did see a crack in it just under the carb. So took the dremel out an grinded the crack clean. Then i took the welder out and fixed that problem too. In between preparing my dad's peugeot van for selling. As it is a diesel that won't be easy.

We had lot of rain yesterday (40+mm) and the 57 started leaking through inside. It came in via all the little nuts of the vent flap. Never seen that before. I think the rubber of the flap has dried out. Have to find a solution. Other than replacing the rubber ;-)

Loosen the nuts of the trim and put some sealant between trim and rubber and rubber and body around the studs. Then tighten everything again...

Maybe later, i did let wd40 run in with a little brush from the outside between rubber and trim. Might go the same direction as the water and seal it off. We'll see. ;-)

Or maybe this stuff, which has worked well for me with windscreen seals...
