I switched places of the 2 cars in the garage. My 83 had a flat battery and dito tyre after 1 year of sleep. It was hard to move them around as there is a rain gutter in front of the garage door. The bleu has to go MOT this month.

Well charged the battery and put in the car. Turned the key and the starter turned the engine over well for a while. it didn't start so another try and nothing but a soft click. So the battery was dead after all... ;-(
It was only 2,5 year old. Normally i do 5 to 9 years with a battery. Hope i can find the bill. I think it should have 3 years of warranty.

Maybe it is time for an electric car with sunpanels on the roof and a windturbine on a trailor .

Yeah I get years out of batteries too. I always buy Bosch ones, they seem to last about 10 years at least.

Probably even longer now I have an isolator switch in the car so it never ever goes flat.

I seems they have calcium batteries that only work in modern cars with computerised loading??? If you put them in an old car they won't last long.
Today i got an old DDR trailer from a friend. Usefull for the holliday as we don't have the caravan anymore. It has been outside for several years. So to begin i had to pressure wash it. It will need new tyres, new cables and plug. And a bit of paint for the esthetics... ;-)
There was a bicycle rack on the top i took off, not original and heavy.

Did some anti-rust proofing today. After wirewheeling there were two small holes in the front floor part. The lid doesn't close well on one side. i think the hinges are a bit bend. Looks like the lid has been opened to far.

Adjusted and welded the hinges, it's better but not perfect yet. Two wheels are off and prepped for paint. The tyres broke when i took them of. Thread was still perfect but the sidewalls dried out. A new set is on the way. New cables and plug prepared. 350 kg loading capacity. I will take the hubs of to regrease the bearings.

Tyres came in, put one on so i could roll the trailer to the car to test the lighting. Yesterday i rebuild the cables, today a took the backlights apart and derusted all contacts an connectors. After a bit of wd-40 it was reassembled. Alle working like it should exept the foglight. I think the connection clip on block has to be checked as the lamp was bright on a seperate test... It's advancing. I have to find some rattle can paint in the right light grey color. But i only seem to find black, white and silver....and other graffity artist colours like neon orange etc.... grgrgr.

Well i took the battery back to the seller. A car electrics firm here in town. He did check the battery and it was ok but not completly charged. The man told me an old type of charger didn't do the job on this modern calcium battery. That has to be charged with with a loader that give 15.5 volt peaks during the load. Otherwise the plates don't get charged all to the bottom of the battery. So he offerd to charge it on his professional loader and can collect it tomorrow... He says the car generator gives it enough power to load. Well learned somthing again. So i have get a new charger that can cope with calcium batteries.
