Re: AZL 1957
Well it didn't hold up. I went down in the village and the banging started again. With a lot of trouble i nursed it back till 1 km from my home. I left it on a parking. I just now went back changed the stud in 10 minutes. I wanted to drive home, and yes i forgot the keys so another walk back and fort. The car started very sluggish but i could drive it gave some bangs on the way but i got it home. Maybe some of the aluminium chips of the drilling became stuck between the manifold and gasket??? I stopped for today as the rain is coming, will have another look at it as there is football on TV tomorrow...

Re: AZL 1957
Did a clean but no cure. I think there is something else. One of the sparkplugs was oily. And when opening the oil fillercap, there was fume and oilspattering. Broken piston rings? I think i swap the engine for one that i prepared earlier.

perhaps try a compression test

Re: AZL 1957
I just prepared the deuche for the engine swap. In the picture it looks less greasy than it is. There are only 2 nuts left holding the lot together.

Re: AZL 1957
An engine of the same type i rebuild earlier. After putting it in the 2cv started but cut out after a few seconds. Tried several times and the problem stayed. It turned out the fuel pump on the rebuild engine didn't work. After replacing it, the engine runs very nice and smooth. Even more silent. I did put in a new centrifugal clutch. This is super and engages at much lower revs. The accelleration got from 15 to 22 procent on the dynometer...Happy

Re: AZL 1957
It took 2,5 hours to take an engine out, and put everything back and connect up. But it now has a shiny engine for the first time. It's my first deuche with the green oil advise plate on the filler cap. The centrifugal clutch came from a french fleamarket for 20 francs... The engine i bought from an camping owner in france for 75 euros.

Re: AZL 1957
Did a longer test drive. It went well, it climbed an 12% incline easy, and it it reached 80 km/h rather fast on the motorway. But i will have to do a bit calm to run the enige in. The centrifugal clutch stinks somewhat but this will have get worn in to the form of the clutch drum a bit too.
