I had an incident once in extreme rain on the motorway, where the 2cv suddenly went really vague. I lifted off a little & it was fine.
Always wondered if that's what it was. It was furiously windy too so hard to say.

My 2 Dyanes used to scare the crap out of me in strong cross winds- light weight and slab sides make it a sail!

Post Re: AZL 1957
Wanted to put the original engine back in the green 57 but i couldn't get it to fit???? So i thought maybe i did put in an other model centrifugal clutch. So i took the one from the engine that came out. When both were next each other i did see what happend. I did test run the engine with the clutch mounted but as the drum is on the gearbox the shoes could open wider and so the were all overbend and stayed to far open...ggggrrrrrr. And it still was a good clutch. With the other clutch mounted the engine slotted in very easy. So now i have to figure out how to bend the old ones back in shape if possible.

This looks even worse than mine, i managed to bend them back a little but not enough i think. If it would be spring steel it wouldn't bent but i think that typ of steel can't withstand the heat of a clutch so it must be possible to bend this back. Maybe you have to recover it with brake material.

Have build al parts from one to the other engine. Carb, exhaust, dynamo, ignition. I have one motor support bolt that refuses to go back in??? I did a test start with a other coil. Nothing happend no spark at all....So another check of the wiring and i did see forgot to connect one up the wire to the contact breakers.....pfff. Again test and vrooom it started at once an runned very well. So when i get the support bolt back in i can build up the rest of the front.

This morning at minus 7 degrees the 57 started in 2 seconds. No problem with 6 volts, those old things are really marvellous. I don' t know why so many people convert their oldtimers to 12 volts...they panic as they see 6 volts.... ;-)

Slithered home in the ice rain today. The car was completely covered with rippled ice. I once had a drive home from Belgium in the fog with below zero temperatures. My ice covered car antenna looked like a 1 cm thick glass rod. Shame i made no picture of it.. ;-)
