Re: AZL 1957
Just did test run the engine of my other 1957 2cv. I had put in new pistonrings. Did put it at the backdoor, connected a battery, points and carb. And after 2 tries it fired up nicely but with lots of black smoke. After a minute it started ticking over smoothly reacting nicely to the throttle. So that can be changed back to the car. The replace engine in there runs well too but has a small oil leak that drips on the exhaust and makes it terribly smelly inside.... and I didn't manage to locate it yet. Also did treat some small rusty points on the cream 1957. So there can be some touchup paint going on next week. Tomorrow i will go to the oldtimersalon in Reims. See what turns up there.

Re: AZL 1957
Had washed the car this morning after al the rubbish they threw on the roads in the winter. It was incredibily dirty. But the car shampoo didn't get everything off. Some parts kept a spotty grey shine over it. I think it is caused by the thin greasefilm that covered the car after the anti-rust treatment. So i did the bonnet and front wings with some turtlewax and now the gray film came off, it's shiny ivory again....

Farecla G3 is the stuff to use to get traffic film and dirt spots off of old paint. I've never used a car shampoo that gives good results without needing a polish.

Re: AZL 1957
Surprisingly, Halfrauds car shampoo and wax does a good job without polishing.....

Re: AZL 1957
As the car isn't painted with real car paint that might be a cause for the problem too. Today i wanted to change the windscreen rubber of my 83 2cv as it got more leaky the last time. I thought the old rubber was going hard.... Helas no under the rubber there were rust bubbles forming and pushing the rubber up and so opening a way for the rain to come in...grrrrr. I switched position in the garage for the anti-rust treatment. In doing so the fuelline of the 1957 2cv got caught on a spare chassis on the floor and got ripped of... so even more work....and so less time to it.... But one nice surprise some pictures of a ripple bonnet 2cv towing truck here in town did eventually turn up. I did know about 30 years of the existence of that car.But they have to stay secret for a while as we are on search for some more pics of that car.

Re: AZL 1957
They had double rear suspension i don't know what engine but they drove regularly to rotterdam and during the trip they bought old 2cv's for 50 guilders or so hooked them up and towed them home to Limburg.... Must have had a lot of time on their hands )
