The city lights of the old 2cv are right misirable. Two tube bulbs behind the main reflectors. A slit in the bulb leaves a very small bit of light through. So i put 2 small bicycle lamps under the headlamps. Now the car is good visible.

Have the same problem with the 6v lighting of my 1932 Morris Minor. I've fitted two red LED cycle lights on the rear, but I'm struggling to find something decent for the front of the car. Ultimately the best route would be to fit LED headlamp bulbs designed for use in a vintage car headlamp, but they're bloody expensive.

Good connectors, and extra mass connections might solve the problem. A friend had his 1959 2cv headlights failing the MOT test in Belgium. He did put in 2 heavy duty relais that take the power directly from the battery to each headlight. They were as bright as halogen lamps afterwards...

Well the new brake shoes were in the mail, the sun was shining so i thought i do a quick repair. It was quick till the wheel cylinder wouldn't come off. So i cleaned it in situ and put new inners in. Then i was installing the brake shoes on one i didn't get the clip to hold. It turned out the little cover on the spring was broken. So searched my stock to find an other, Yes. Every thing clean and new, i was putting the drum back on. No way the wheel bearing desintergrated. I found 2 other complete drums in stock but on both the outer bearing didn't turn.... So after 2,5 hours i had enough of it . See if i have an other drum laying around or a complete axle where i can take one off.

I did an other search in my stock and found 4 more brake drums. Two with new wheel bearings. I took them once from a Dyane on a local scrapyard.

We got some snow this morning (5 - 10cms). The 57 slithered rather well to work. Half way up one climb the wheels were spinning for a second or two...

Well the new lamps are great but as i mounted them upside down water can get in there. I did see they were half filled with water. So back to the drawing board... ;-)
