Re: AZL 1957
The car stood in the sun all day and it was so hot the gearbox started cracking at once when i drove off. Normally this occurs only after some 10 to 15 kms....

Re: AZL 1957
Had the green 57 back on the road today, haven't driven it since last september. Original angine is back in with new piston rings. Connected everything up, turn the key pull the starter VROOOM. Those old things are really great they start so easy. The green one has a more solid feel than the ivory one. I think that is rather worn and will benefit of an engine rebuild. The green one revs much lower for the same speed. I think the centrifugal clutch of the other is worn more.

Re: AZL 1957
i bought over 20 years ago from a friend in france. They drove it here, they even bought a towing rope for the 2cv. But when they arrived here their new Renault 11 broke down and they drove all week with the deuche.

Re: AZL 1957
Found an old propellor siren from the 50s at a fleamarket last sunday. It didn't work because the propellor scratched against the housing. After some trying i found out that the base of the housing had a dent that did put it in an angle. So the whole thing disassembled. Put it on the anvil, a few blows with a hammer and it runs well now. Only needs further cleaning and a fresh coat of paint.

Re: AZL 1957
We have those klaxon horns most of the wedding cars I look after. Honestly, making people jump with them, never gets old. They sound so comical though, no good if you were actually annoyed. Hehe.
On one of my Mercs I fitted a set of four tuned horns from a Cadillac. Lovely noise, a bit like the old freight train horn. Brilliant for making surly teenagers jump as they cross the road in front of you on purpose..
