 Re: AZL 1957
Didn't find the noise in the clutch. Might be ice as i did see ice drops on the flywheel??? Starting stayed bad after an cold night. the rest of the day no problem. I ordered a new set of points and condersator. Then i didn't see petrol comiing at the carb when starting... so i changed the pump, no result. I took the filters of front and in the tank, nothing. There was some dirt in them but they weren't blocked. But i couldn't blow through the fuel line. So got the compressed air out and pouf it blew open lot's of brown dirt in the car under the rear seat. I tried again nothing but when l wanted to stop, the engine sprung back into life.... So now see what it does tomorrow morning after an cold night..

 Re: AZL 1957
Starts and runs well now. But clutch stays noisy on start up. After it engages the first time the whyning noise is gone??? Brakes have a similar problem they rattle and make grinding noise the first few times. Than they are fine the rest of the day...Very strange.

 Re: AZL 1957
Teh oil smell is gone but there is still some exhaust fumes coming. In look ing closly yesterday i did see some cracks in the manifold gaskets. So i wresteld the manifold off the engine and yes a lot of soot left and right of the exhaust ports of the cylinderhead. So cleaned all up put new gaskets in. Car is a lot quieter now and i think it worked. Will check during a drive soon.

 Re: AZL 1957
Allways nice when you fix the exhaust I bought myself a 1/4 drive torque wrench so I could torque the manifold correctly I was supprised how much I was under torqueing it before.

 Re: AZL 1957
Yes that can be. I did feel a little blow at the left side and did feel i could torque it a little more and the leaking stopped. The manifold was a bit bent the middle hole didn't fit nicely. I had to force it off and on the engine. See the picture of a similar distorted one. Mine was even shifted more.

 Re: AZL 1957
All ok now, but the centrifugal clutch keeps making strange noises in startup....i cant'feel or hear something in the bearing. But when i startup the stupid thing is whyning loudly.... As soon as the revs pick up to block the clutch it's gone. It doesn't return when changing gears...???

 Re: AZL 1957
Did block the last pinhole in the exhaust clamp. Did check some things for the noisy clutch. I injected brake cleaner in the clutch drum and the noise was almost gone. After it dried up it came back but something less noisy... Other thing that happend twice now. On decending a hill with a stop on the bottom the car stopped idling. I cleaned the carb out it was some black stuff on the bottom of the float bowl. Maybe i have to check the ignition point again. It seems as if it doesn't reach top revs as easy as normally???
