Post subject:  There's a new snail in town....

Do to new tax regulations here in Holland I sold my 1983 2cv and bought an old '55 snail....

When i bought it I saw that the body was older and now after investigating it is from november 1951... It has the old Mecano Soudee doors a square B post and so on....

There's a 425 12hp inside so it's a real snail....

Because it is so old, it is free from Tax and free from MOT..... (You need to keep it in MOT shape they say whatever that means)

Today I've got the Dutch licence plates so here we go.....

I found it about 25km from my place here in the south of the Netherlands and the seller was very pleased to deliver it to my home on a trailer, I know now why, but will tell that story later (has something to do with loosing the front left wheel.....

I drove it 2 times to the RDW (Dutch inspection) to get it road-legal and to get a new RDW prooved chassis number....

I've already cleaned all brake- and mastercilinder and all the wheelbearings are also gone.so need to been done quickely... (Wheelhubs are getting hot after a drive and no it are not the brakes)... They also make a terrible rubbing noise while driving the car..

Russ if the "RDW" allows to swap the engine, maybe it will but at the moment it feels with 12hp already as if it falls apart at any moment... so with 100 hp I need to weld the front doors shut and the roof......

Ofcourse Geert..... went this evening to Fer with it, he likes it also.... I'm getting used to it, it has sloppy brakes a wobbly back-axle, but drives just cool.... slow and easy.....
