The cans are off. The old chassis is completely stripped. A turning point has been reached.

It's amazing what ten minutes playing with a large tool can do.

That's a very big spanner. The little spanner in that pic is 12mm...

That big spanner did this.

All four were equally clean and spotless, of course - again, just a little dried up mud on the threads which crumbled as the nuts were turned...

Mind you - it's not all plain sailing. Remember I thought that the can buffers were a bit tired? I was wrong. The front ones are _utterly_ foooked.

I strongly suspect that this, children, is why we shouldn't use engine oil to lubricate the spring cans...

I mentioned earlier that the spring cans were a bit battered...

Yup, they're a bit battered all right. I think a couple of new can outers wouldn't go amiss...

The gaiters for the tie-rods are also knackered - and not available from "usual suspect", who says they can't find a source. Cassis _might_ have 'em, but I'm unconvinced - they list two under "Ami" - one's the same as 2cv. I've asked them. We'll see.

Thanks, Paul - but they list 2cv-size only...

Those ones aren't a problem - Uncle Roy has those in stock.
The ones that are the problem are the equivalent of these...

Don't be daft!

The buffers were looking like a problem last week - but ECAS turned out to stock 'em, they just hadn't got them on the website...

Another £300+ order about ready to go...

ac,

I see in trunian that you're thinking of Rustoleum - is that for the outside? Gimme a shout if you need some tips - I did my orange one with rustoleum. It's faded a bit, but I think a polish would bring it back up and shiny. Although, I don't think shiny is what you're after, you might struggle to avoid a shiny finish.

No, for fleaBag's underwear - although I'll get some decent primer for the bits upstairs, they'll get beiged.
