There's a popular school of thought that a non-galv chassis gives a smoother ride than a galvo one. Keep whatcha got and invest in some Waxoyl/Bilt Hamber to preserve it or drive round leaking oil everywhere like I do. Good luck with it, Tom.

A "Citroen-style" chassis may ride more smoothly than some of the aftermarket chassis - but the various aftermarkets vary wildly in strength. Just look at Russ's video of A Popular Brand flexing like a wibbly-wobbly thing...

Re: Celeste Blue D reg / now with pictures
i also noticed that my 2cv is quite stiff on the suspension. My neighbours red one is extremly soft and that was commented on at the mot. New shockers? What do you think.

Priorities, Tom, priorities. Paint colour and softness of suspension come a lot further down in the list than replacing rotten metal. They can be done once it's got an MOT. Get that shell off, and get plenty of good clear photos of the structural bits.

Re: Celeste Blue D reg / now with pictures
That first pic - is that rot with a patch behind the holes? If so, then lower bulkhead/toeboard (but we expected that anyway...) The rest is all fine, except for shagged out bumper mounts. Not the end of the world.
