Personally, I'd still whip the heads and barrels off and clean it all up, if only for peace of mind. No hard evidence, but I know of a few engines which were dragged from a barn or field and pressed straight into service, which suffered from top end issues relatively soon after. One siezed solid after being fired up a few times just to move it around. The problem was diagnosed as a mess of carbon and rust in the combustion chamber, and it was gently freed off with some diesel in the bores. It ran well, but the pistons and barrels were toast within a year...

Looks like you're going to have a fair amount of work to do to the beastie anyway, so a weekend's love and attention to the engine wouldn't go amiss, while you're at it!

I'd opt for a hone and a set of rings,as long as there no wear steps in the bore.

Harsh, Dave... It looks a lot better than I'd expect from the circumstances. The screen surround & bonnet hinge looks a bit historical, though I've seen worse. I'd quite like to see what's happened to the bottom of the dash shelf - that can really suffer from screen leaks.

Left it where it was?? nah! a easy project that will be another preserved Citroen on the road considering according to http://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/vehicle/citroen_dyane_6 there are not many left all the more restore and get back on the road

Assuming the chassis is ok you could reshell it as a 2cv with one of the many Joe must have laying around, at least then you wouldn't have to waste time fixing a Dyane.
