ok so looking into the bad stuff now!, moved the car inside (its very foggy here during winter, so not good for unprotected tin.
undercoat on some of the rear interior to start sealing stuff.
rot in ther front floors as seen and then I discovered the suspension tube snap! has anyone ever seen this, the suspension still works fine and looks normal, but the tube has sheared in half!..I don´t suppose there are any quick fixes are there?
theres going to be a fair bit of welding on the front half of the chassis also

It's easy to make new pots for the suspention and for its age the 2CV look great

yes vasil. I´ve sourced some matt clearcoat with antirust component inside, its very slow to dry as it needs to be very sticky without primer..we´ll see how it looks next week, as at the moment the bodywork is like a sponge for greasy hands and dirt!

that suspension canister didn't snap, it was cut; most probably a quick and dirty way of dealing with a broken tie rod or spring.

cheers ken, the innards seem to be ok, I guess just a new outer can should fix it no?..oh and those 2 44mm spanners that everyone moans about.

another question, the starter seems to not work, its very still and seems to short out when attached to a 12v battery.
I´m wondering if a 12 v starter would be a good upgrade as I have to get another.. (if I convert to 12v, the money I save on a cheaper battery can go to the starter?..but then I suppose you´re all going to say the teeth are different on the starter for the differnt flywheels??)

if I stay with a new 6v starter can I upgrade the rest to 12v? and is it worth putting one of those electronic ignition thingies on?

meanwhile been digging shovel loads of soil/oil mix off the engine and nut shells from everywhere else., the inner floor is coming along also but I ran out of welding gas..it´ll be stainless again like sidney...but no channeling this time.

That is a great workshop - I wish I had never filled in my inspection pit when I moved here, but at the time I didn't think I would ever need it. Times have changed.... damn!!
