 My Green/White D*lly F698 UFX
I'd always wanted a 2cv as my family have had loads and bought mine in March 2006 from a chap in Southampton. He'd driven her the 2 miles to work everyday so the engine hadn't really done any hard runs. She was only on 62,000 which wasn't bad. The chassis was a bit of a patchwork but all in all the body work was good. She was advertised at £1250 with a year's MOT and 6 months tax. Immediate problems were the roof, rear window, upholstery. In view of this I paid quite a bit less than that. I made a silly offer which (to appease my guilt) he didn't have to accept - but he did I'd refused to learn to drive for years and it was only buying her that really gave me the urge to learn. My first 2cv event was the L2B in '06 where I joined 2CVGB. (In fairness I'd done the L2B before in a 2cv... but I was only a week old ) The lovely people at the South Down Escargots told me about the National. Storington 07 was my first ever 2CV Camp, I went on my own and everyone made me so welcome I loved it 2006I've never been prejudiced against anyone in my life, or subscribed to social stereotyping. That is until I was hit from behind by a 4x4. Driven by a women. Who was blonde I was lucky in that I managed to get the chassis changed and repair work done on insurance, however, sadly my choice of 'specialist' was a little, silly But hey, owning an A series is a learning curve. After the chassis change I fitted running boards and a Harringtons interior which I really like. She's my daily (and only) car and a 100% practical for my purposes. I think that's why I love it so much. It's cheap to run and fun to drive. And comes with a ready made social scene Through owning my 2cv I've met some really great people and gone to some great places. Sam

Re: My 2cv F698 UFX UPDATED
So I go rear-ended last night. AGAIN! alas. This time thankfully with the adventure bars on it looks like they took the brunt of the impact. There's no damage at all to the rear lights. Attachment:

The adv bumper is bent into the bootlid which is jammed against the body. In a kinda cool way, the adv bar has sliced the boot handle in half! However, because I can't get the boot open I can't see inside and FJ have asked me to leave her alone until their inspector's seen it. Attachment:

Beacuse I love my bootbox, I fitted extension peices to the adv bar to allow enough clearance for the bootbox, these effectively actes as a crumple zone, saving the body work. The frontage of the pug 306 that shunted me was pretty mashed, the whole front panel came off. Footman James have been great so far and they're dealing with it really quickly

The boot lid is pretty mashed, I'm not sure how/if FJ will deal with that, they're an awfull lot new Attachment:

It is kinda cool how the handle is sliced in half. There's a lot of paint come off as the boot lid crumpled in, but until it's removed I can't see if its damaged the rear panel at all.
