Air leak from one of the inlet manifold gaskets.

theres no way the timing could be off now is there...I thought that was impossible on these engines.!
:?

Easily so! The points box rotates to set the timing.

I think thats it, the gasket slipped on the opposite side, I thought I relocated ok , but maybe not...didnt realise they´d be that sensitive!

yep ken you´re a star, the seal was upside down, also I changed it for the flatter ones that I had and added a couple of washers behind the springs because they werent very powerful, now it doesnt spew anymore.

you just have to go back and double check all the bits that were disturbed taking the head off - manifold gaskets , tappets? as you havent touched the jets or the points box then it shouldnt have been altered.

easy fix! the inlet gasket was askew!, it was getting dark when I did it. fixed the other side also with a spacer washer to push the spring a bit harder and now its a drip free zone and I´ve got a lovely yellow 2014 sticker on the windscreen :)
thanks for all the help guys, the car would have never got sorted so quick (and so cheaply) if it weren´t for this forum.

very happy

It will keep the sun out of your eyes and you will be able to drive straight on at red lights because you won't be able to see em...

A win win...
