In general there are 2 ways to convert your 2cv to LPG.....

The simpliest way is to take a venturi reducer... The gas is sucked into the engine by the vacuum the inlet air creats... It can be done by a simple hose going into your air-inlet traject.. More sofisticated you need a mixer

which sits between the carburettor and the airfilter... the advantige of this system is that it is very simple to get your 2cv going on lpg but the disadvantige is that the air is restricted by the mixer so your topspeed goes down by 10 km/h..

The other route is the electronic lpg injection... You need a reducer which pressurises the lpg to around 1 bar.. Now the LPG is injected by lpg injectors directly in front of the inletvalves... Theres is no restriction in the inlet so performance is almost the same as with petrol... But you need a programmable ecu to inject the right amount of lpg at the right time.. Megasquirt, Vems and others .can do this... Btw I'm doing this with my own injection system 1-2-Squirt...

Now another problem is when lpg is turning from liquid to gas cold is generated, so you
need to heat the reducer... I do this with water and a pump.

The pump is a Bosch pump used for Webasto car heating systems, I''ve bought 4 pumps for 50 euro secondhand.. the first one in my hands I put in my car is still running for about 6 years now, about 60000km sofar, without braking down... I love them...

I've wrapped some copper pipe around the exhaust which heats the water.

The pump will pump the water through the copper pipe into the reducer and then to a reservoir, from the reservoir it goes to the copper pipe again and so on...

and then ofcourse you need a lpg tank.... Every country has is own rules avout lpg installations so you need to check for yourself...

Take a look at my turbo 2cv topic; a lot of the above is written in it...

Thank you for helping out :)
I'm intrested also doesn't the water never go to a boil phase because of constant heating in the exhaust ?

Now here is where you are thinking wrong. The exhaust doesn't heat in a constant way...

It's dynamic..

Giving full throttle, the exhaust will heat up, but also a lot of gas is used thus evaporated so a lot of cold is generated.

When cruising along the exhaust is only marginal hot, but you are using less gas, so you need less gas to evaporate so less cold is produced in the reducer..

So this is always in a sort of balance.. Now here is were the water container comes in... Regulating the phases were you go from cruising to full power and vica versa.. The waterin the container flattens these spots out (also neccecary because the waterlevel gets higher when the water is hot)...

So no I have never had a boiling water experience...  You have to experiment a little with the lengtht of the copper pipe around the exhaust and once it is working well it will work fine..

In my Ami I only filled it up once with coolant (because it can freeze) and I'm drivingitfor over 2 years now... About 2 weeks ago I checked the waterlevel first time again and it is still the same as 2 years ago... meaning it works well..

Also you can make two seperate pipes around the exhaust, in summer you can drive on one piece of copper pipe and in winter you can use both....

If you want to make it more advanced you could use a thermostat, but I do fine without one.. You could use a reservoir and thermostat from a liquid coled moped...

I'm still figuring out how to adjust the applied pressure, if anybody how this is set????

Here are the welding tools...

This afternoon I tried to weld some examples to get a feeling of the welder and welding..

Within 5 minits I had some good welding.. The only thing is I don't know how to adjust the pressure of the pneumatic jaws,,

If someone knows how to adjust the pressure of the jaws you would be very helpfull...

Here some examples of the welding..

I tried to seperate the 2 pieces but these are very good welds...

To me the welds are looking great... The only thing is I want to have more pressure at the jaws but I don't now how...

@ Geert, I want to do some of my own projects, afterthatwe can talk...
