Re: Anyone know about Tractions?
The Traction story is still going on. My neighbour came round last week to say take the Traction and if it is not any good then he will scrap it. Now this is where it gets confusing and I am hoping to find out today but I think he says if it is GOOD then I can have it if I want it. So I had promised to move it for him and I am doing that anyway as his cousin is tired of having it in their barn for the past 30 years. I have started, but tough on your own. One wheel on Attachment:

These cars are a little heavier than my AZU - I used my trolley jack to swing it around, bloody killed me Attachment:

First time I have seen the front of the car. Wheels are not ceased which is good, will try and crank the engine but not so sure about that one. Attachment:

Now I have to figure out how to tow it up the steep drive and thru some thin gates onto a thin village road. And then try and get its 5 metre length onto my 4 metre trailer......

Looks pretty solid - check the sills, they rot out underneath so you can wave your hand through, but look ok on the outside. I'd love one - if it's going free let us all know

Re: Anyone know about Tractions?
Holy Crap!! I own it..... the guy was so happy that I was able to move it and said if I didn't want it then he would scrap it as he had no means to do anything with it. He wanted no money for it. He last drove this car in 1972 when he parked it in the barn. This was the car he learnt to drive in. The original owner who bought it brand new was the boss of a Sandal Factory which used to be close to our village. Then the father of my neighbour bought it and used it for 4 years before parking it up - Petrol cost 20 centimes per litre when he last filled it up - I love a story. I have the Carte d'Identity and Permit de Conduire for the owner (who is actually dead ) and will request a replacement Carte Gris from the prefecture. The job of transporting it went quite smoothly in the end although my trailer is as small as you would every want it. Time to sell the Simca 6 to free up some money to renovate this 1955 Traction Avant 11CV - anyone want to buy it Attachment:

At its new home - temporary while I free up space in the garage. Attachment:

Result! Great story!
Really looking forward to seeing how this project progresses. I've always wanted a Traction... and a DS Safari... and an H van, and...

Re: Anyone know about Tractions?
I twill be a while before I start on this one. As I said I will need to sell the little Simca first.
Just put a battery on it - lights, horns etc work well and the starter clunks. Engine is blocked somewhere. Gearbox is fine as it cranks around when the clutch is pressed.
Oil in the sump but it has been standing for 32 years.
Front floor panels have a few holes but the sill look good. Pretty solid except for the front wings which are a bit dented.
I must admit that I have been very lucky here - cars like this seem to go for about 3 to 4 grand on the Le Bon Coin. I would do that to the guy though, I will give this one a go and get it back on the road.
