To alleviate my depression over not being able to afford going to Firkin' Freezin, I treated myself to a car! :D

I'm seeing this as a long term project - my main focus for now is getting the Acad ready for Spain which is gonna cost a few pennies, but not as many as getting this thing on the road! If I'm being honest, its in pretty goddamn awful condition - EVERYTHING is rusty, and I really do mean everything. From the poke and prod I had today when I went to have a look, it needs a new chassis, floors, sills, toe-board, boot lid, bonnet hinge, rear sweeps, roof & bumpers... Not to mention the numerous repairs needed all over the rest of it.

You'll probably all think I'm mad, and its definitely worth more in parts than it is in its current condition, but it was a choice of try to save it or watch it go to the scrapyard, and lets face it - its a Beachcomber! They were my first 2cv love and I've wanted one for as long as I can remember.

The chassis was so shot that I couldn't risk A-framing it home, so its getting trailered to me this week, and I'll get a bunch of pictures and give it a proper going over when it arrives.

Question for you lot, though - anyone know some history for the car? The bloke I got it off of picked it up 6 months ago but didn't have the time to do anything with it and couldn't really tell me much.

Anyways, let me know what you think and keep your eyes peeled! :)

Not yet - he's bringing them along with the car. Not parting with the cash 'till i have my grubby paws on the V5, but he seemed a decent bloke so there shouldn't be any problems. I think he was glad to see it go somewhere that it has a chance at a second life as opposed to it getting weighed in.

Thankfully I have a galv chassis already from another project's donor car. Not sure the pedigree, but if it saves me 700 quid all the better. I can always replace it with one of Ken's when i have more cash to spare.

I've done plenty of work on 2cvs over the years, but never tackled something this big. Thankfully I've got plenty of friends and family who can help out, and between us we can weld, wire, paint, polish and everything inbetween ;)

Surprisingly, though, the boot floor was perfect

Hmm, wonder is Sean has any clues as to its past? Hopefully he'll be along soon to chime in his sorrowful laughter at my foolishness.

Totally bonkers, but if if it's something you've always wanted, it's got to be done.

Anyhow, I'm sure I spotted at least one shiny headlamp, plus it's got the proper grey surrounds for the front indicators and the rear lamp clusters.
That should keep Will and Jono happy... :)

@ 4x4 Superfinn.
Bet they never issued registrations with 'FFS'.
Or did they slip through?
