New to the site and new to the 2CV world although we have been searching for some time now for a Fourgonnette to restore and use. We have seen loads recently and were getting a bit disheartened as some of the prices being asked for near buckets of rust were ridiculous.
Managed to find, what I think, is a find - would welcome your thoughts.

1970 AZU AK250
Mileage (true - hopefully - we have past MOT certs) 7850Km
Engine 425cc 6Volts
2 owners (1st was a baker in the town of Nimes) - stored in a barn from 1986 to 2006
Small rusting section under the rear body but overall, in good shape
Chassis, so far looks perfect
Totally original with no additions or bodges (except for the fibre glass on the floor panel )

Just getting a few parts sorted this week to get it through its MOT, the last one in 2006 passed with no problems.

I want to get him fully patched up and repainted - he is going to become a Support / Broom wagon for our cycling tours we run in the summer.

Looking forward to getting to work over the winter and chatting on the forum... a lot.

Cheers guys - I am looking forward to getting to work on him but first I want to get him through the MOT (Contrôle Technique) to make sure everything works before I pull him to pieces.

Planning ahead a little but one silly question I have is, How heavy is the body? Can it be lifted off the chassis or is it really heavy.

Reading all the restoration threads, glad they are all current too.

Stripped down, the body could easily be taken off the chassis by two people. You may want to weld some bracing pieces in first, as shown here:

Depends how sturdy your body is and how much work you need to do on it, I suppose. Forum members Geert and 2cvkeza would be good to ask.

(Btw, I heard a funny thing about Controle Technique recently: if the car fails the CT, it can be driven legally on French roads for up to two months!)

Quite true - that is my plan. I have to get the CT done (doesn't have to pass fully, you still get a certificate but on the understanding you will take it back within the month) as I have to get him registered in my name. And to do this you have to go to the Prefecture with the old Carte Gris, the form signed by me and the old owner, a house bill and a registration form. Once that is done they will provide me with my new Carte Gris and my new number plate (as I bought it in a different department)

Cheers on the weight question, there are only tow of us. Body lloks ok, neds new floor panels and rear section ( bumper bit like Geerts

an excellent choice of vehicle for your broom wagon, but I have to ask, is it for 'sweeping up' those cyclists who've discovered the hard way what 'the bonk' means?

After reading your aks400 thread I most definitely will. I will be taking the body off just after Xmas so will get a better idea of what I need.
Do you give tips on how to fit them
