 1981 Dyane 6 'Le Hellbilly'

Post Re: 1981 Dyane 6 'Le Hellbilly'
Running report:

Days owned: 12
Miles covered: 480
Bits fallen off: 1 (passenger side wiper arm, replaced with one with actual splines on  )
MPG: 48*
Grin Factor: Even bigger.

*- MPG figure would be higher but for the fact that that split fuel line wasted a good half-gallon. Estimate just over 50MPG overall.

Still no daily (sssh....I haven't been looking that hard ;) ), but Hellbilly is coping manfully with the daily motorway dash, sitting at a comfortable 65-70 with my foot merely resting on the gas, and enough in reserve to put an extra 10mph or so on (and maybe more) if needs be.

Still needs to go LOWER.

This weekend sees Hellbilly in Spanners Speed Shop for the following in advance of Registers Day:

1. Leak-free pushrod tubes
2. Braided hose oil feed kit
3. New engine mountings
4. Some paint (weather permitting) ;)
5. Hopefully some 'stick-hittage' (not as painful as it sounds).

The Sunday after (July 5th) sees me in Worcester Royal Hospital for the following in advance of Registers Day:

1. The full use of my left (drinking) hand back
2. Erm...that's it.

I've got a plan for the paint.....I will do that here I think, I'm still playing with colours for the bottom half. Will give me something to do if i end up having a few sick days after me operation!

Fair enough, I may have some painting for you to do on my racer-weather permitting of course 8-)

Saturday okay? Actually, it'll have to be I'm afraid as I'm out all day Sunday.

this picture reminds me... Does anyone have any spare trim clips as shown in the picture above & the piece of trim that attaches to the clips. I don't think they're handed - i just need one for a front door. :)

Git down, baybeh.

Another 9-hour stint today at Spanners Speed Shop has seen it gain a new braided oil feed kit, the engine tinware has been modified for extra cooling (and repainted), a new oil pressure switch and more fresh oil.
And while we were at it we dropped the back end by about 4" and the front by about 3", enough to transform the look of the car while still having some suspension. The steering's a bit heavier, but if that's the only price to pay then so be it.

The back end would go down more but I like it as it is, it's got just about the right amount of rake. Next step is.....paint, and I STILL haven't decided.

Hopefully that's it on the oil front, I'll run it a bit this week to make sure it's OK, then its Registers Weekend here we come in a fortnights' time, and The Ace the Saturday after.

Can I just publicly show my appreciation to Jon Clewer aka Spanners for all the hard work he's put in on Hellbilly since selling him to me, you've got no idea just how much I appreciate it bud. I owe you many many beers. ;)

Hellbilly is rollin'........and it feels good.
