i dug out some old 2cvgb magazines this afternoon & have been flicking through. In one of them, buried amongst the pages & pages (remember that?) of classified adverts i found something that rung a bell...

Quote:
X-REG DYANE, 61,000 miles, no mot or tax. Badly rusted off side panel, otherwise body reasonable condition for age. New roof & personalised plate (PPJ 51X) Ideal restoration project. Best offer over £150 accepted 01737 22**** Surrey

plucked from the June 1996 issue! amazing how it's survived seeing as it was pretty much on it's last legs 13 years ago! 8-)

Superb!!!! So the new roof was put on just before it came off the road....which explains why it's faded to buggery and yet doesn't leak.

'Personalised Plate'....I've just had that valued at £750, I'm debating wether to stick it on their books or not. It's just a number....

And so it ends.
:?
Regular readers will recall me regretfully putting it up for sale a couple weeks ago, citing trouble at work.....suffice to say it didn't remain for sale for long, and yesterday afternoon saw me clearing my crap out of it and getting it ready to travel to it's new home later today.

It's not all bad news though, for it's going to another longtime RR member (shortly to be drafted into the I2F ranks) who has plans for it, so you'll still be able to plot its progress on these hallowed pages, should that be your wish.

The ownership experience has been interesting, educational, and fun. The cars are brilliant, quirky and WAY more capable than maybe some outsiders would think. The owners (that's you guys, mainly....) are, by and large, the most madcap bunch of party animals I'm ever likely to meet, helpful and generous to the last. I tip my hat to each and every one of you. Will I have another? Maybe, had I discovered them 20 years ago. Back then I'd have been fully assimilated into Deux Chevaux ownership. But at 45? Probably not.

So that's it....
