If you're fitting new rear wings I would strongly recommend you don't weld them in place.

Doesn't the fact that the rear wings are welded in place give a lot of strength to the rar body?

That is correct. I know what you are talking about , but I cant explain as my English is not good enough . And also ... glueing rear wings is so French ... and nightmare for high class restoration.

That blue aks400 had glued new rear wings... waste of time and waste of money for new wings as I had to disintegrate that wings to have access to repair - change inner wings. And a lot of ALU profiles and pop rivets... so French... (Bought in Paris)

German guys says "Amerikanische Fusch" , I say French fusch... Dont Glue it ... spot weld it . And apply some rubber sealing on joints outside and inside like it was in original.

Mine are bolted like saloon rear wings, makes servicing so easy. I used these:
