Yep, it's back in my hands.

And, what an eventful first week I've had with it back home!

After 100 miles or thereabouts on my way home with it, I stopped to get a bite to eat etc and, when I came to leave, he wouldn't start for love nor money.



We were eventually delivered home at about half 4 in the morning.

So, after about 2 1/2 hours sleep, I got back up and replaced the starter motor-hey presto, a running van again.

I then intended to use it for work on Wednesday but, alas, it wouldn't start.

So, I spent the evening playing with carbs as the spindles were so worn on the old that there was fuel pissing out everywhere and it was trying it's best to syphon the tank with it parked facing downhill.

Thursday night saw me venture out in it again. Off to the pub I went, no problems. Coming home, however, was a different matter entirely.

When I replaced the starter, I didn't bother checking the charging rate-big mistake!

A quick phonecall to Tev and a battery winged its way to where I was broken down so I could continue home.

So, after work yesterday, I replaced the alternator-it's now charging correctly. Job done.

Anyway, hopefully that's my hat-trick of problems over with........

In the meantime, I've been concentrating on fitting standard wings etc back onto it and removing some stickers.



















All I have to do now is wait for my new front indicators to turn up from Ecas and then I can put a fresh MOT on it and, hopefully enjoy it a bit.

Just refitting the narrow headlamp bar made all the difference in the world!

I may also have to drop the front end by a few mm or so once I've rebuilt the original steering rack.

Nice to know its got a good home again, it's lookin good already.

It's now MOT ready.

I'm toying with the idea of taking it in to work tomorrow as I've got to tell them that after 2 1/2 weeks, I'm leaving!

I've got a new (proper) job working for the (French) opposition.............

I've done it!

I've managed a complete journey in the van without it breaking down!

However, I'm struggling to comprehend that the original steering rack that Chris took off could possibly be worse than the one he fitted (sorry Chris) as I won't be driving it again until I've sorted that out.

It's been a strange last week or so in the vaan-it's not broken down!

However, I have come accross aall sorts of other things that needed sorting on it and the occasional bit dropping off.

Firstly, I discovered that the dodgy suspension/steering was due to the missing and loose bolts holding the front shocks on-Chris, buy yourself a torque wrench!

Then, I got serious cramp from the collapsed drivers seat.

Then the passenger door mirror made a bid for freedom.

And, just to cap it all off, the drivers door mirro glass dropped out this morning!

So, I replaced the missing shock bolts and torqued everything up to FT, cut the leg off my favourite pir of jeans and repaired the drivers seat and, then, carried out a quality, seamless repair to the passengers door by riveting a patch on and bolting the mirror back on.

I just glued the drivers door mirror glass back in with very expensive sump sealant!
